One of the main challenges for anyone creating any form of digital media is to genuinely make audiences connect and engage with the content. The key is to spend time thinking how to develop your story. You need time to get to know your audience, to understand their needs and habits, in order to find your unique voice. This process takes trial and error but the key is to keep trying. Some of your trials might achieve some success, others will not, but the learning experience will be beneficial for your business.
This month, we decided to focus on some video ads celebrating and reflecting on women’s achievements which we found very enganing and easy to connect with.
Dream Crazier by Nike
The next video focuses on female athletes who have broken barriers and brought audiences together with their performances. The ad reminds us how feats like a woman running a marathon, boxing, dunking, coaching an NBA team or “winning 23 grand slams, having a baby, and then coming back for more” were all considered crazy — until a woman did them
.
Labels Against Women by Pantene
This next ad exposes a double-standard that still exist today. Men and women are shown exhibiting the same behaviors but are labeled differently. So how do women stay strong and in control, given this narrower band of acceptable behavior? They can start by not letting labels like this hold them back.
This Girl Can – what about you? by The National Lottery
The campaign is designed to inspire average people with normal bodies to exercise for the simple joy of it. Find her on a bike getting muddy… find her on the sports field sweating like a pig… and feel like a fox while you’re doing it!
Thank You Mom by P&G
“For teaching us that falling only makes us stronger”… This ad follows the Olympic Games journeys of four children and their supportive mothers - helping their children learn to walk, skate, and ski on their way to becoming successful Olympic athletes. This highlights the pivotal moments in one’s life when a mother’s strength makes all the difference, and building up to the moment when each child summons their own courage to take on the world
What will they say about you? by Nike
Another inspiring ad which encourages women to do more… Rather than tearing down billboards of fit women because they do not look ”realistic”, this video shows a truly inspiring movement of women who not only push for equality in Women’s rights, but also for equality in Women’s religion.
Tree Bench Films fully supports women’s rights to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated, to vote and to earn a fair and equal wage. We believe that to make an impact we have to start with the small changes within ourselves first.
As filmmakers, we stand for the idea to promote and create stories with meaning, to perform as visual thinkers who communicate with their audience in a true way. With the right voice, the right content and the right distribution, we can start using video content as a solid way to grow our ideas and change the world for the better…
